# Reorder

> How the Reorder tab in your storekit app lets customers order a past order again, and how items are matched to today's menu, by PLU for Lightspeed and Deliverect.

The Reorder tab lets a signed-in customer send a past order again in a couple of taps. It lists their previous orders, and tapping **Reorder** on one rebuilds that order from the store's menu as it is today.

## What the Customer Sees

1. The customer opens the Reorder tab and taps **Reorder** on a past order. The button text can be changed for your app.
2. The app opens the menu of the store the order was placed at and shows a **Same order again?** summary of the items it found.
3. The customer can change quantities, remove items, or tap **No thanks** to carry on browsing the menu.
4. Tapping the add button puts the items in the basket. From there checkout is the same as any other order.

The order is always rebuilt from today's menu, never copied from the old receipt. That means:

* **Prices are today's prices.** If anything costs more or less than last time, the summary says "Some prices have changed since your last order." and shows the old price crossed out.
* **Unavailable items are left out.** Anything that is sold out, snoozed, not served at this time of day or no longer on the menu is listed under "Not available right now:" and is not added to the basket. The same happens when there is not enough stock left for the quantity ordered last time: the whole item is listed as unavailable rather than added at a smaller quantity.
* **If nothing is available**, the customer sees "None of these are on the menu right now." and a **Browse the menu** button.

Opening hours, stock limits, delivery and pickup rules and payments all work as they normally do.

## How Items Are Matched to Today's Menu

To rebuild an order, storekit looks up each item and each option (such as a size or an extra topping) on the current menu.

**Lightspeed and Deliverect stores match by PLU.** A PLU is the product code your POS gives each item. It stays the same when the menu is synced again, even if storekit gives the item a new internal ID. storekit looks for each item by its PLU first. If nothing on today's menu has that PLU, it falls back to the item's storekit ID. This keeps reorders working after a [POS menu sync](/docs/guides/menu/pos-menu-sync).

**Every other store matches by storekit ID.** An item reorders as long as it is the same item on the menu. If a menu sync replaces an item with a new one, the old item shows as not available, and the customer adds the new one from the menu.

<Note>
  On Lightspeed and Deliverect, two items can share the same PLU. When that happens, storekit picks the item that matches both the PLU and the ID. If no item matches both, it picks the first item on the menu with that PLU. Give each item its own PLU in your POS so reorders always pick the right one.
</Note>

There is no dashboard setting for this. The matching follows your store's POS automatically.

## Turning the Reorder Tab On or Off

Whether the Reorder tab is shown, what it is called and where it sits are part of your app's setup, and can be changed without a new release. Ask the storekit team to change them. See [What Changes Without a New Release](/docs/app-studio/introduction#what-changes-without-a-new-release).
