# Leat Discount Type Reference

> Choose the right storekit discount type for a Leat reward or voucher — start from what you want to give away, then copy the exact value into Leat.

Every Leat reward or promotion you want to redeem on storekit needs a **storekit discount type**. It is a short code that tells storekit *what* to discount, *how much* and *on how many items*. This page helps you pick the right one; the setup steps live in [Rewards and Vouchers](/docs/guides/integrations/loyalty/leat/rewards-and-vouchers).

## Start From the Reward You Want

Find the reward closest to yours, then copy the type and value into Leat.

| I want to give… | Discount type | Discount value | Also needs PLU? |
| - | - | - | - |
| 10% off the whole order | `basket_percentage` | `10` | No |
| £5 off the whole order | `basket_amount` | `5` | No |
| A free coffee | `product_percent_base_single` | `100` | Yes — the coffee |
| £2 off one burger | `product_amount_base_single` | `2` | Yes — the burger |
| Half price on every side ordered | `product_percent_base_multi` | `50` | Yes — each side |
| A free pizza, toppings included | `product_percent_modifiers_single` | `100` | Yes — the pizza |
| 20% off everything in the Desserts category | `category_percent_modifiers_multi` | `20` | Yes — the category |
| One free dessert from the Desserts category | `category_percent_base_single` | `100` | Yes — the category |
| A free extra shot (a modifier, not a product) | `modifier_percent_base_single` | `100` | Yes — the modifier |

<Tip>
  **Discount value** is always a plain number: `10` means 10% for percentage types and £10 (or your store's currency) for amount types. Leave out `%` and currency symbols.
</Tip>

## Build Your Own Type

If none of the examples fit, answer four questions. Each answer is one word in the type name, joined with underscores:

<Steps>
  <Step title="What does it apply to?">
    `basket` (the whole order), `product` (specific items), `category` (any item in a category) or `modifier` (an add-on such as an extra shot).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Percentage or fixed amount?">
    `percent` for a percentage (`percentage` for the basket), `amount` for a fixed sum. Fixed amounts never take an item below zero.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Should paid add-ons be discounted too?">
    `base` discounts the item price only — extras such as toppings stay full price. `modifiers` discounts the item plus its paid add-ons.
  </Step>

  <Step title="One item or all of them?">
    `single` discounts one matching item (storekit picks the cheapest). `multi` discounts every matching item in the basket.
  </Step>
</Steps>

So *"a percentage off one product, add-ons not included"* is `product` + `percent` + `base` + `single` → `product_percent_base_single`.

Not every combination exists — check the full list below before saving in Leat.

## Full List

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Whole order (basket)">
    No **storekit PLU** needed.

    | Discount type | Effect |
    | - | - |
    | `basket_percentage` | Percentage off the order subtotal |
    | `basket_amount` | Fixed amount off the order subtotal, capped at the subtotal |
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Specific products">
    **storekit PLU** holds the product code(s) — see [Linking rewards to products](/docs/guides/integrations/loyalty/leat/rewards-and-vouchers#linking-rewards-to-products).

    | Discount type | Value | Paid add-ons | Applies to |
    | - | - | - | - |
    | `product_percent_base_single` | Percentage | Full price | One matching product |
    | `product_percent_base_multi` | Percentage | Full price | All matching products |
    | `product_percent_modifiers_single` | Percentage | Discounted | One matching product |
    | `product_percent_modifiers_multi` | Percentage | Discounted | All matching products |
    | `product_amount_base_single` | Fixed amount | Full price | One matching product |
    | `product_amount_base_multi` | Fixed amount | Full price | All matching products |
    | `product_amount_modifiers_single` | Fixed amount | Discounted | One matching product |
    | `product_amount_modifiers_multi` | Fixed amount | Discounted | All matching products |

    A fixed amount is capped at the price of the item it applies to. A percentage of `100` makes the item free.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Any product in a category">
    **storekit PLU** holds the category identifier.

    | Discount type | Value | Paid add-ons | Applies to |
    | - | - | - | - |
    | `category_percent_base_single` | Percentage | Full price | One product from the category |
    | `category_percent_modifiers_single` | Percentage | Discounted | One product from the category |
    | `category_percent_modifiers_multi` | Percentage | Discounted | Every product from the category |

    There are no fixed-amount category types.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="A modifier (add-on)">
    **storekit PLU** holds the modifier's PLU.

    | Discount type | Value | Applies to |
    | - | - | - |
    | `modifier_percent_base_single` | Percentage | One matching add-on on one item in the basket |

    This is the only modifier type — there is no fixed-amount or multi version.
  </Accordion>

<Warning>
  A reward whose type is not in the lists above cannot be redeemed on storekit. Customers see it in Leat but storekit will not apply it. Double-check spelling — the type must match exactly, including underscores.
