# Klaviyo for Native Apps

> Understand how your branded storekit app works with Klaviyo: customer profiles, app visits, push notifications, marketing consent and what to check if activity is missing.

Connect your branded storekit app to Klaviyo to see when customers return and send them push notifications. App activity sits alongside your order history, helping you understand engagement beyond purchases.

## Connecting Your App

Your app needs to be connected separately from your ordering website. Contact storekit support to confirm Klaviyo is enabled for your app and connected to the same Klaviyo account as your stores. Customers may need to update their app before these features are available.

Connecting your app does not replace the [order and website integration](/docs/guides/integrations/marketing/klaviyo/connect).

## What You See in Klaviyo

Once your app is connected:

| Customer action | What appears in Klaviyo |
| - | - |
| Signs in to the app | Their customer profile is updated with their name, email and phone number, where available |
| Opens the app or returns to it after using another app | An **Opened App** event |
| Taps a Klaviyo push notification | An **Opened Push** event |

Signing in updates a profile; it does not create a separate **Signed In** event. **Opened Push** means the customer tapped the notification, not merely that it was delivered.

Orders and reviews continue to appear through your existing storekit connection. Connecting the app does not add a second **Placed Order** event for the same purchase.

App activity does not include a record of every screen a customer visits. Dish views, basket changes and checkout activity depend on your [ordering website's tracking](/docs/guides/integrations/marketing/klaviyo/event-reference#on-site-events), including when customers order through the app.

## Customer Profiles

Using the same email address on the website and in the app helps Klaviyo match activity to the same customer. If a customer appears twice, check the email addresses on both profiles and contact storekit support if they match. Existing duplicates may need review rather than merging automatically.

Signing out stops subsequent app activity being attributed to that signed-in customer. It does not delete their Klaviyo profile or unsubscribe them from marketing.

## Push Notifications

Push notifications let you reach customers on their phones, for example with a new menu launch or a reminder to order again. Customers must allow notifications for your app before they can receive them.

Klaviyo marketing notifications are separate from storekit's order updates. An order update does not count as a Klaviyo **Opened Push** event.

A customer profile or **Opened App** event does not mean that customer can receive push notifications. Confirm push messaging is set up for your app with storekit support before planning a campaign.

<Note>
  Signing in does not subscribe a customer to email or SMS marketing. Allowing push notifications does not give email or SMS consent either. See [Marketing Consent](/docs/guides/integrations/marketing/klaviyo/marketing-consent).
</Note>

## Using App Activity

Use **Opened App** in Klaviyo segments to distinguish customers who return regularly from those who have stopped visiting. Use **Opened Push** to see which customers tap your notifications.

Combine app activity with order history when planning campaigns. Opening the app is not the same as placing an order, and tapping a notification is not proof of a purchase.
