# Using Kiosk Admin on the Device

> Open the hidden Kiosk Admin panel on a storekit kiosk tablet to check its status and connection, install updates, force a refresh or log the kiosk out.

**Kiosk Admin** is a hidden panel on the kiosk tablet itself. Staff use it to check that the kiosk is online, install an update, clear a stuck screen or log the tablet out.

## Opening Kiosk Admin

On the kiosk's homescreen, tap the top-left corner of the screen five times within three seconds. **Kiosk Admin** opens over the homescreen. It can only be opened from the homescreen, not while a customer is mid-order.

<Note>
  In a browser kiosk, **Kiosk Admin** has no PIN, so anyone who knows the taps can open it. Keep the tablet where staff can see it. The [staff PIN](/docs/guides/store-settings/kiosks-terminals#setting-a-staff-pin) only applies to the storekit kiosk app.
</Note>

## What the Panel Shows

| Field | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Kiosk Name** | The kiosk's name from **Kiosks & Terminals** |
| **Kiosk ID** | The kiosk's ID, useful when contacting support |
| **Venue** | The store the kiosk belongs to |
| **Status** | **Online** or **Offline**, the tablet's internet connection |
| **App Version** | The kiosk version currently running |
| **Scanner** | The connected barcode scanner, or **none** |
| **Software Update** | **Checking…**, **Update available** or **Up to date** |

Tap **Show** next to **Diagnostics** to see **Recent Events**, a log of what the kiosk has done recently. **No events yet** means nothing has been logged since the kiosk last loaded. Tap **Hide** to close it.

## Actions

| Button | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Check for Update** | Checks for a newer kiosk version, and installs it straight away if one is found. When an update is already waiting, the button reads **Install Update**. |
| **Force refresh** | Clears the kiosk's saved files and reloads it. Use this if the screen looks stuck or out of date. The kiosk stays paired. |
| **Log out kiosk** | Removes the pairing from this tablet and returns it to the **Kiosk Setup** screen. |
| **Close** | Closes the panel and goes back to the homescreen. |

**Log out kiosk** only clears this tablet. The dashboard still lists the kiosk as paired (**Online** or **Offline**), and you can still pair this or another tablet with a new code. To log a tablet out from the dashboard, for example if it's lost, use [Log out device](/docs/guides/store-settings/kiosks-terminals#logging-out-a-device).
