# Custom Font File Requirements

> File requirements for custom brand fonts on your storekit ordering page: WOFF2 format, weights, variable fonts, naming and licensing.

Custom fonts on your ordering page are uploaded as **WOFF2** files. WOFF2 is the compressed web font format every modern browser supports, so your menu loads quickly on mobile data.

## What to Upload

| Requirement | Detail |
| - | - |
| File format | `.woff2`. The uploader also accepts `.woff`, but WOFF2 files are smaller and load faster. |
| Not accepted | `.ttf`, `.otf`, `.eot` and `.svg` fonts. The accepted formats are fixed to `.woff2` and `.woff`. |
| Weights | One file per weight, for example Regular, Medium and Bold. You can select up to 20 files in one upload. The weight is read from each file. |
| Variable fonts | Supported. Upload the single variable font file and its weight range is used. |
| Italics | Upload upright styles only. Italic files are treated as regular text. |
| Font name | Read from the file. You can edit it in **Font name**; it can only contain letters, numbers, spaces, hyphens and underscores. |
| Licence | Your font licence must allow web embedding (sometimes called a webfont licence). A desktop licence alone usually does not. |
