The free PayPal Here POS app helps you take credit and debit card payments on your Android or Apple tablet or phone. Perfect for mobile vendors the PayPal Here POS app gives you a basic inventory list and record of transactions. Integrated with a number of static and mobile printers:

PayPal Here POS

PayPal Here is a payment processor which comes with free very basic POS software. The software is generic and equally suitable for merchants of all kinds. Its main competitors are iZettle, Square, and SumUp.

Pricing

For payment processing, PayPal Here prices start at 2.75% per transaction, but can go lower depending on how much you process. The POS comes free.

What makes it different?

PayPal Here integrates with PayPal’s large suite of products so that you can take any type of payment via PayPal. But if you plan to do this, make sure you look closely at PayPal’s payment processing rates – which are generally not as competitive. (Understand why)

Compatibility

Because it’s a payment processor, PayPal Here needs its own brand card reader. All the hardware listed here will work. PayPal Here is an app which can be downloaded onto any phone or tablet.

Service

Support is available 8.30AM-8.00PM on weekdays and reduced hours on weekends.

Getting started

PayPal Here needs its own card reader but the app can be downloaded for free. It’s very quick to set up. To get put in touch, email hello@storekit.com.

Satisfactory given choice is limited.

Pros

One on the few systems that can be used in a London taxi. Low-ish transaction fees make it attractive against more sophisticated but cumbersome options. Also offers the opportunity for invoicing on advance bookings.

Cons

Now outdated equipment and needs to be updated. iZettle and SumUp plus others have updated terminals.

Transfer Your Money Instantly

Pros

Ease of use.Tip function is a great idea. Withdraw your money to your bank instantly as long as you don’t use the card reader app, this must be done via the main PayPal app.

Cons

Very slow to complete a transaction. Apps are the worst, it logs out without warning everyday after 8hrs constant use and always does this during a transaction which frustrates customers. App freezes if a card is put towards the PayPal reader before amount is typed in delaying the customer by a good 3 minutes. Printer not always recognised, switching between iPad or iPhone brings Bluetooth connection failure.

An affordable and easy way to take card payments

Pros

Set up for the device is easy, you just need a business account, and the software on your phone or tablet. It's super easy to use, has a long battery life (I'm not sure what they exact hours are, but it lasts me all day at a market) and is small enough to fit in your pocket. It supports contactless payments, which you'll use the most, and the software can generate really handy reports, as well as allow you to input your stock so you can add up totals with just a few clicks.

Cons

The only drawback I find is that occasionally the bluetooth connection dies, and you have to reboot the whole thing to get connected again. It happens just when you're trying to sell to a customer, and you have that awkward "Hold on a minute" for about 2-3 minutes while it boots back up and reconnects. This probably happens once a day for me.

Paypal Here

Pros

I found Paypal very easy to set up and to use. Funds are transferred to your Paypal Account almost extremely quickly and easy to follow where payments have come from.

Cons

Paypal has Higher charges than other providers for low monthly usage. Each transaction is charged for individual but there are no monthly charges.

Convenience!

Pros

The device is extremely convenient You can LITERALLY sell anything, anywhere! Quick transaction - the money is in your account instantly Easy to set up - called up PayPal and they had me registered in minutes and approval took about 45 minutes to an hour

Cons

2.75% fee but this goes down based on your volume so make sure you keep selling The only other things that was worrying was that the PayPal device was out of stock everywhere and due to the urgency we needed it NOW. Even places like Argos were sold out. This is where StoreKit came in and I was able to go to their store and pick one up instantly. They also threw in a couple of free gifts for us which was very nice! Thank you StoreKit!
