Lightspeed Menu Sync

storekit builds your storekit menu from a menu you’ve published in Lightspeed. Lightspeed stays the source of truth: every sync replaces the storekit menu content with what Lightspeed returns.

Choose the Lightspeed Menu

Go to Stores → your store → Settings → Integrations → Lightspeed K-Series, open Menu → Edit and pick the Lightspeed menu, then click Save in the save bar. The dropdown lists the menus available on the connected business location; No menu means nothing is linked yet and syncing won’t work. Changing the picked menu saves with the save bar like every other setting — it doesn’t take effect until you click Save.

Run a Sync

To sync every Lightspeed menu on the account at once, click Sync all menus on the Menus page. To sync just this store’s linked menu, click Sync menu in the header of the Lightspeed settings page — it syncs only that store’s menu, not the account’s other Lightspeed menus.

Scheduled Syncs

To re-sync automatically, go to Stores → your store → Settings → Automations → Sync Schedules and click Add sync schedule. Give it a Name, set Kind to Menu, and pick a Schedule (or enter a Custom cron expression). The page shows the next run time for each schedule. Click Save.

What Gets Imported

Production instructions become a free (zero-price) modifier group named after the Lightspeed production instruction group. Groups that permit multiple selections import as multi-select; the rest allow one choice.

Sync Options

All of these live in Menu → Edit on Stores → your store → Settings → Integrations → Lightspeed K-Series:

• Language — which Lightspeed locale storekit reads names and descriptions from. If the item has no text for that locale, storekit falls back to en.
• Import sub-screens as categories — flattens Lightspeed sub-screens into their own storekit categories. With it off, items inside a sub-screen are imported into the parent category.
• Account profile for menu prices — loads the menu using a specific Lightspeed account profile, so online prices come from that profile rather than the default. Choose No profile to use the default pricing.

Under Menu → Edit → Show advanced:

• Don’t update menu images — keeps images already on storekit items instead of overwriting them from Lightspeed. New items import with no image.
• Don’t update menu descriptions — keeps descriptions and translations already in storekit. New items import with no description.

How Categories Are Built

• Only the linked menu is read. Each top-level menu entry group in the menu selected in Lightspeed menu becomes a storekit category. A group or sub-screen that exists only on another Lightspeed menu — for example your main till menu — is not imported, even if its items are.
• Sub-screens depend on a sync option. With Import sub-screens as categories off, items inside a sub-screen are imported into the parent category. With it on, each sub-screen becomes its own category, placed straight after its parent, and the parent keeps only the items directly on it.
• Order follows Lightspeed. Categories are numbered in the order they appear in the Lightspeed menu on every sync, so reordering categories in storekit for the storefront is reset by the next sync. Change the order in Lightspeed instead.
• Categories are matched on their Lightspeed ID. A group renamed in Lightspeed updates the existing storekit category. A group deleted and recreated in Lightspeed gets a new ID, so storekit removes the old category and creates a new one.

Category Availability Hours

Lightspeed schedules are not imported — every synced category starts with Category always available on. To show a category only at certain times, such as a lunch menu from 12:00 to 16:00, set its hours in storekit on the category’s Availability tab — see Category Hours. The sync does not change Category always available or the hours, so they survive later syncs as long as the category is still matched to the same Lightspeed group. If the group is removed from the linked menu, deleted and recreated in Lightspeed, or stops being its own category because Import sub-screens as categories was turned off, the storekit category is replaced and its hours have to be set again.

Limitations

• Items with customised pricing are skipped. Lightspeed items whose pricing strategy makes the price positive, negative or a percentage of the total can’t be represented as a fixed price, so they’re left out of the import.
• The integration menu entry group is skipped — it’s where the storekit delivery, discount and service-charge products live, and they shouldn’t appear on your customer-facing menu.
• A sync mirrors Lightspeed. Categories, products and modifiers that are no longer in the Lightspeed menu are removed from the storekit menu, so manual additions in storekit don’t survive a sync (apart from images and descriptions preserved by the two options above).
• No lightweight/price-only sync, no category availability hours from Lightspeed (set them in storekit), and no portions or sizes. Courses are set in storekit, not imported — see course assignments.
• Item availability is not set by the menu sync — stock and sold-out state arrive separately, see Stock & Availability.
