Klaviyo is an email, SMS and mobile push marketing platform. Connected to storekit, online orders, dishes bought, checkouts and reviews can reach customer profiles, and your menu can be kept in Klaviyo’s catalog for use in templates. Use it to bring customers back with abandoned checkout reminders, post-order follow-ups, reorder nudges, review requests and win-back campaigns. Branded iOS and Android apps can also record app visits and receive push notifications. This section is split into focused guides. Start with Connecting Klaviyo, then set up the areas you need.

What Klaviyo Receives

Alongside events, storekit also:
  • Identifies the customer as soon as they enter their email at checkout, so a customer who abandons before paying still has a profile you can reach.
  • Subscribes customers to your list when they tick your marketing opt-in box at checkout — email and, if they gave a phone number, SMS.
  • Backfills your order history on request.
  • Syncs your menu to Klaviyo’s catalog daily.
Order events for customers who check out without an email address are not sent to Klaviyo. App customers can still appear with incomplete contact details; see Customer Profiles.

How the Connection Works

Data reaches Klaviyo by three routes:
  • Order and review events are sent by storekit’s servers using your Private key. They arrive for every order with an email address, whatever the customer’s browser does.
  • On-site events (Viewed Product, Added to Cart, Started Checkout) are sent from the customer’s browser by Klaviyo’s own script, which storekit loads when the store has a Public key / site ID. Ad blockers stop these for some customers; that is normal.
  • Native app activity shows when customers open your app and tap Klaviyo push notifications. Your app needs to be connected separately from your website; contact storekit support to confirm it is enabled. See Native Apps.
The web and server routes work together:

Account Settings and Store Settings

For website tracking and order events, the Private key is entered once and shared by every store in your storekit account. App tracking is managed separately. The settings below apply to your website and orders: Connecting switches every store on. A store with no public key still sends every order but its abandoned checkout flows stay empty; a store with its Enable Klaviyo switch off sends no web or server integration events. The switch does not turn off app tracking.
