Yoco is a standalone payment integration, completely separate from storekit Payments (Adyen). For now, South African stores use Yoco instead of storekit Payments.
How It Works
When a customer checks out at a Yoco-enabled store:- Customer completes their order and proceeds to payment
- They’re redirected to Yoco’s secure checkout page
- Customer enters their card details
- Payment is processed by Yoco
- Customer is redirected back to your store with confirmation
Connecting Yoco
Yoco is connected once for your storekit account with your Yoco secret key, then switched on store by store. Yoco is only offered for stores whose address is in South Africa.1
Create a Yoco account
If you don’t already have one, sign up for Yoco and complete their onboarding process.
2
Copy your secret key
Log in to your Yoco dashboard and copy your secret key — storekit’s own hint says it is “in your Yoco dashboard under API Keys”. Use your live key to take real payments.
3
Find Yoco under Integrations
In the sidebar, click Integrations → Yoco → Set up. If you have more than one South African store, pick one under Choose a store — the key you save applies to every store on your account. You can also get there from Stores → your store → Settings → Integrations → Yoco.
4
Save the secret key
On Yoco Payments, paste the key into Secret Key (it expects a key like
sk_live_...) and click Save Secret Key. storekit registers a webhook with Yoco as it saves; if Yoco rejects the key, nothing is saved.Once saved, the page shows the masked Current Secret Key and the field changes to New Secret Key for replacing it.5
Enable Yoco for each store
Go to Stores → your store → Settings → Payments. Under Payment provider, the Yoco card appears once the key is saved. Click Enable Yoco — the badge changes from Disabled to Enabled.“Enabling Yoco makes it the payment provider for this store, replacing any other card checkout.” Repeat for every store that should take Yoco payments.
The Details panel with Connect to Yoco on the Yoco Payments page is only shown to storekit staff. Merchants connect with the secret key.

Availability
Refunds
Refunds for Yoco orders are made from the order in your storekit dashboard, the same way as other payment methods — see Refunds & Payouts. storekit sends the refund to Yoco, and it reaches the customer according to Yoco’s standard processing times.Payouts
Yoco handles payouts directly to your South African bank account. Payout timing and fees are determined by your Yoco account settings, not storekit. To view your payouts and transaction history, log in to your Yoco Portal.Disconnecting Yoco
- One store: go to Stores → your store → Settings → Payments and click Disable Yoco on the Yoco card. storekit confirms “Yoco disabled for this store — this store can no longer take payments”.
- Your whole account: click Disconnect at the bottom of the Yoco Payments page. Disconnect does not switch Yoco off at your stores — click Disable Yoco on each store first.
Troubleshooting
The secret key won’t save
- Check you copied the full secret key from your Yoco dashboard
- Check your Yoco account is fully verified and active — storekit registers a webhook with the key as it saves, and the save fails if Yoco rejects it
There is no Yoco card under Payments
The Yoco card on Payments only appears after a secret key has been saved on Yoco Payments. Save the key first, then reload Payments. There is no Yoco integration for my store
Yoco is only listed for stores whose address is in South Africa. Check the store’s country under Stores → your store → Settings → General.Payments not working
- Check the Yoco card on Payments shows Enabled for that store
- Check the saved key is your live secret key
- Verify your Yoco account status in your Yoco dashboard
