With gift cards on, customers can enter a Leat gift card code when paying for an order or a bill. storekit looks up the balance with Leat, takes what is needed, and leaves the rest on the card. If the card does not cover the whole amount, the customer pays the remainder by card. Gift cards are issued and topped up in Leat. storekit only redeems them.

Turn On Gift Cards

1

Open Leat for the store

Go to Stores → your store → Settings → Integrations → Leat. The store needs to be connected with a shop chosen under Rewards at checkout → Edit → Shops — redemptions are recorded against that shop.
2

Enable gift cards

Check Enable Leat is on in the page header. Open Gift cards & orders → Edit, turn on Enable gift cards and click Save in the top bar.
The same two settings cover Pay at Table: once they are on, the gift card box also appears when customers pay a bill. Repeat for each store. Gift cards issued by Leat can be spent at any of your stores whose shop has access to the same Leat gift card programme.

How Customers Pay

1

Enter the code

At checkout (or on the bill) the customer clicks Apply a gift card and types the code. Customers do not need to be signed in to Leat to use a gift card.
2

See the balance

storekit looks the card up with Leat and shows You currently have a £20.00 balance on your gift card. Click Apply to use it. Looking up the balance does not reserve or deduct anything.
3

Apply

The customer clicks Apply. A Gift card dialog shows the Balance and Order total and asks for the Amount to apply — the customer types an amount or clicks Use max to apply the most the card can cover. They confirm with Apply gift card; storekit shows Applied £15.00 from your gift card and any remainder is paid as normal.
4

Redemption

When the order is placed (or the bill payment goes through), storekit records the redemption against the card in Leat. The remaining balance stays on the card for next time.

Refunds and Failed Orders

  • If an order fails after the gift card was redeemed — the card payment for the remainder is declined, or the POS rejects the order — storekit reverses the redemption and the amount goes back on the card.
  • Refunding an order paid with a gift card returns the refunded amount to the card, up to what the card paid. On a split payment only the gift card’s share goes back to the card; the rest is refunded to the customer’s payment card.
Refunds are made from the order in the dashboard in the usual way — see Refunds and payouts. There is no separate gift card refund screen.
