The ordering interface (buttons, form labels, order status messages) is translated by storekit. Your menu content (product, category and modifier names and descriptions) is only translated where you or your POS provide the text. This guide covers the store language settings and where menu translations come from.

Supported Languages

The Language dropdown in the dashboard offers this fixed list:

Set the Store Language

The store language is what guests see first when auto-detect is off, and the fallback when their browser language is not in the list above.
1

Open General

Go to Stores → your store → Settings → General.
2

Choose a language

Under Currency, language, timezone, and store identifiers, pick a value from the Language dropdown (see Supported Languages).
3

Save

Click Save.

Follow the Guest’s Browser Language

Tick Auto-detect Language on the same General page. When it is on, the store opens in the guest’s browser language if storekit supports it, and in your store language otherwise. When it is off, the store opens in the store language. Either way, guests can switch language themselves at any time from the language selector in the store.
Auto-detect suits dine-in QR ordering in areas with international visitors: a guest with a French phone sees the interface in French without touching anything.
Auto-detect switches the interface and any menu translations you have for that language. If your menu has no French translations, a French guest sees French buttons around English product names. Add translations for the languages you expect, or leave auto-detect off.

Add Menu Translations in the Dashboard

You can translate a product’s name and description per language from the product editor.
1

Open the product

Go to Menus → Edit on the menu, click into the category and click the product to open Edit product.
2

Open the translations for a field

On the Details tab, click the translation icon at the right-hand end of the Name or Description field. The icon has the tooltip View translations and opens the Name Translations or Description Translations window.
3

Add a language

Pick a language from Select a language to add… and click Add. Type the translated text, then click Save in the window and save the product.
The translation icon only shows when menu translations are enabled for your account, or when the product already has translations synced from a POS. If you do not see it, contact support.
There is no dashboard editor for category, modifier group or modifier translations, and no translation CSV import. Those translations only arrive through a POS menu sync.

Translations From Your POS

If your POS holds multilingual menu text, storekit imports it with the menu and applies it to categories, products, modifier groups and modifiers. This is supported for Deliverect, Lightspeed and Stream menu syncs. Check the menu sync page for your POS to see which fields it sends.
Anything without a translation stays in the original text, so a half-translated menu shows a mix of languages rather than blanks. A translation saved under a regional code (zh-CN) is also shown to a guest browsing in the base language (zh), and the other way round.
  • Dashboard language — change the language of the dashboard itself, which is separate from the store language.
  • Translation Overrides (Stores → your store → Settings → Translation Overrides, shown only when enabled for your account) replaces individual interface labels; it does not affect menu content.
