Menu Overview

A storekit menu is what your customers order from. This page explains how its parts relate and what the words in the dashboard mean, then points you to the guide for whatever you are trying to do. If you are building a menu for the first time, start with Build Your First Menu.

Two Things to Know Before You Edit Anything

Every menu belongs to one store. A menu is created for a single store and cannot be shared with, or moved to, another store. The store’s name is shown directly under the menu name on the Menus page — check it before you add items. See Managing Menus. Your menu is either synced from a POS or managed in storekit. On a synced menu (Zonal, Lightspeed K-Series, Toast, Deliverect, Stream and others) the POS is the source of truth: items, prices and availability come from the POS, and most fields in the storekit menu builder are read-only or revert on the next sync. Open the menu from Menus → Edit and look at the row under the menu header — Connected to Zonal, Managed by Deliverect and similar mean the menu is synced. Category availability and hours, Unavailable Product Options, images, videos, ingredients and nutrition are always managed in storekit, even on a synced menu.

Level	What it is	What the customer sees
Menu	The full list of what a store sells. A store usually has one; it can have more (for example an eat-in menu and a collection menu).	The ordering page
Category	A section of the menu. Has its own hours, images and printer routing.	A tab in the navigation bar and a heading on the page
Product	A dish or drink with a name and price. Belongs to one category.	A card they tap to add to the basket
Modifier group	A question asked about a product, with rules for how many answers are allowed. Can be shared between products.	A heading on the product page, e.g. “Add toppings”
Option	One possible answer in a modifier group, with its own price.	A row they select under the heading

Modifier groups can be nested — an option can reveal another group (pick a meatball option, then choose chicken or beef). See Nested Modifiers.

Glossary

Term	Meaning
Menu builder	The page you reach from Menus → Edit. Categories and products are edited in panels that slide in from the right.
Available	The product’s own on/off toggle. Off means it cannot be ordered until you turn it back on.
Snooze	Making a product or the whole store unavailable for a set time (15 minutes, until tomorrow 8am…). It comes back on its own.
Available After	A date and time before which a product or category cannot be ordered. Used for launches.
Category hours	A weekly schedule for a category, independent of store opening hours. Outside them the category and its products are hidden.
Track Inventory	A stock count on a product or option. Each order reduces it; at zero the item becomes unavailable.
Unavailable Product Options	A per-menu setting: unavailable items are either shown greyed out (Disable, the default) or removed from the ordering page (Hide).
In Stock	The on/off toggle on a modifier option — the option-level equivalent of Available.
Hidden modifier group	A group set to Hidden on a product: still configured, not shown to customers. Different from an unavailable option.
Required / optional group	A group with a minimum of 1 or more is required; a minimum of 0 is optional.
Free Modifiers	The number of options in a group the customer gets before option prices apply (“first 2 toppings free”).
Multi Max	Allows the same option to be chosen more than once (“2× extra cheese”).
Compare At Price	An original price shown struck through next to the current price.
Cost	Your cost price for the product. Reporting only; never shown to customers.
PLU / SKU	Your own product code, typed in or filled by a POS sync. Used to match items with a POS or a loyalty platform.
POS ID	The identifier a POS uses for the item. Only shown on menus for POS providers that need it (Comtrex, Centegra, Tissl).
Product ID / Category ID	The read-only identifier storekit generates. Used for stories, support requests and the API. Different from PLU, SKU and POS ID.
Grid View	A spreadsheet view of a whole menu for editing the same field on many products at once.
